For assignment one, I will be creating a promotional video based around the social issue of 'same sex marriage'. This sentence alone already says so much, as same sex marriage should not be a social 'issue'! I have chosen to create a video promoting same sex marriage, as I am a strong believer in having the right to marry the person you love, regardless of gender.
The audience I am targeting the video towards is EVERYONE. Females, males, heterosexuals and homosexuals of all ages and nationalities. Although the video is targeted towards everyone, I really want to focus on creating awareness amongst the younger generations, as they are the future and have the power to make a change in the world. However, in saying this, it is mostly the older generations who have an issue with same sex marriage; therefore I want to incorporate both into the video.
I want to capture the attention of heterosexuals mostly, by creating a video that triggers emotions of inequality. I want everyone to realise that there is nothing wrong about loving someone.
As people who are against same sex marriage, would not want to take any part in things to do with homosexuals, I want to reverse the video! I want to begin the video with a heterosexual couple in a realistic setting, such as a cafe. I want the video to show the heterosexual couple being flirtatious, holding hands and kissing etc. while an older homosexual couple and other public members start making comments and giving them bad looks. I want the young heterosexual couple to feel judged, just like homosexual couples do when people judge them and say rude things.
After the video, I want people to realise how ridiculous it is to judge people for loving another, and that people of all sexualities should be accepted in society, and have the right to marry who ever they want.
Obviously the tone will start off quite serious; however, I would like to incorporate humour of some sort, or something less serious to make it approachable and ensure it doesn't get boring! Therefore, I would like the colour to be of natural lighting, to give a realistic setting! I don't want it to be dark, as that can immediately turn people away sometimes. As for the font, I want it to be pretty basic and minimal, as I want the audience to focus on the actors and the message they are sending!
